The Evergreen
On November 11 The Evergreen played a house party on Boutz. I came sort of late but was able to see about 4 songs. This was the first time I had seen this band and I really appreciated their sound. Electronic but not surgical. Robotic but savvy. And above all there was a groove. A bottom line, a solid rhythmic frame on which to dance and dangle. To me, The Evergreen is what this town needs more of, and what that is, is variety. Many of the members of the Damn Rathers are in this band, and that same stage magic the Rathers used to ignite, also happens with The Evergreen. And isn't that what we are all here for on the LC Scene, isn't that what we are waiting for, what we're dreaming about? To walk into a room and be stopped and unlocked by a combination of sound, robbed of intentions, blinded by imagination and in that room, though I could not make out all the lyrics, we were all hooked, chins to the rug, unwrapping a tiny peice of nebulous candy we had never tasted. Take my advice...check out the Evergreen.
